POP REVIEW: The Walking Dead (S3, E16) "Welcome to the Tombs" FINALE

We love the entertainment industry, a bit too much sometimes, and when we find a good show or movie we tend to become slightly enamored. Our series POP REVIEW is here so we can put our thoughts out there about big bads, gooey romantic obsessions, favorite characters, and sometimes things we just don't like. In this series we will discuss the most current episodes of any given show or recent movie we've seen and we encourage all fans to comment, discuss, and share your thoughts with us! There will be spoilers, but we'll save them for after the jump. If you opt to open the full post and accidentally ruin something for yourself, we warned you.

The show opens on a brutal scene - The Governor is giving someone we cannot see a pretty brutal beating as he discussing what Penny would think of him now. At first we think the person may be Andrea, after all we left her a few weeks ago bound and gagged in his torture chamber, but we learn that it is Milton. The Governor tells him that Penny would still be alive if he had been like this so long ago, but he also admits that she would fear him.

The Governor momentarily takes Milton into the torture chamber, where Andrea still waits, and boasts about his plans to kill the survivors at the prison.

We didn't pick up with Andrea this week, and that KILLED us! (Okay, not really.) Instead, we get Rick telling Daryl about the plan to give up Michonne to The Governor. Neither Daryl or Hershel is on board with this plan, but Rick can't help be think it's the best way to save more lives. Daryl makes a very good point when he tells the former Sheriff "It just ain't us."

This week we started off somewhere we haven't been before - a flashback with Andrea and Michonne. We see the pair huddled around a fire with Michonne's walkers in tow. The two joke, but things get more serious when Andrea asks about the pet walkers. Michonne is very clear when she states that "They deserved what they got. They weren't human to begin with." This quietens Andrea, but it leaves us wondering - what exactly does she mean, and who are these "pets?"

Hershel and Daryl drive up to a seemingly abandoned farm on the edge of an abandoned town. Rick hops out of the truck and Daryl rises from his bike. The two quietly begin scouting the area, weaving between rusted silos while Hershel waits in the truck, armed and ready for whatever is about to happen. Eventually Rick enters a run down feed store with his pistol in hand.

This week we picked up The Walking Dead with Rick, Michonne, and Carl on the road. We're not entirely sure where they're going, but before we even have too long to dwell on that we meet Backpack Guy... who gets completely ignored by the group. You almost feel sorry for him, but at the same time he could be anyone and they have a lot of their own shit going on. Sorry Backpack Guy.

After getting stuck in the mud, killing a few walkers, getting the car back on the road, and once again ignoring Backpack Guy running into the background begging for help, we quickly learn that Rick is literally heading home.
